Certification of Experts in the boating industry
UpdateIMCI updated Certification of Experts in the boating industry
In April 2013, IMCI updated the existing program (in place for 12 years) for the Certification of Experts in the boating industry. Based on the quality management certification of persons referenced in EN ISO / IEC 17024:2003, accreditation with the Belgian accreditation body BELAC has been applied for. Interested parties can obtain comprehensive information on the IMCI website and download the application forms as well.
Upon receipt of the application, IMCI reviews the personal and professional qualifications of the expert. After a positive assessment and determination of the Expert’s area of interest, they can be admitted to the examination. The examination contents in the subject areas are fixed and can also be viewed on the IMCI homepage (www.imci.org).
The test itself takes place in Belgium in the IMCI offices. The exams are computer based, multiple choice questions within an “Open Book Format“. That means reference books or the Internet are allowed as aids. Upon successful completion of the exam, a Certificate is issued valid for 5 years after which it must be re-validated. During the life of the Certificate an annual review of the expert’s opinions is conducted and annual training is provided by IMCI.
The current certification based on EN 45013 expires on 2014 12 31. Existing certificates will remain valid until then. Experts who are already following the IMCI Quality Manual (QM Manual 2.3) certified on the basis of EN 45013, have the opportunity adopt the new methods and need not undergo further testing.
